Rutgers CARE Lab

The Rutgers Climate-Health and Airborne Risks in the Environment (CARE) Lab investigates how climate-related environmental exposures affect human health, with a particular focus on extreme heat, wildfire smoke, and air pollution. CARE Lab is a team-science hub with expertise in exposure science, controlled human exposure studies, epidemiology, and advanced sensing technologies to examine effects on cardiovascular, neurological, cognitive, and sleep outcomes. Our central goal is to identify and evaluate practical interventions, including passive cooling technologies, building modifications, and personalized risk-reduction strategies, that protect health and reduce environmental inequities in populations disproportionately affected by climate change.
